The Chief Reader trains educators to evaluate written, spoken, and/or videotaped responses to a variety of teacher certification examinations. The Chief Reader is responsible for preparing materials that exemplify state-specific standards, orienting scorers through an established calibration process, managing scoring sessions, and serving as a content expert in a teaching content area, writing, and/or pedagogy. This position is located in our Sacramento, CA office.
Responsibilities:
* Work with Scoring team to plan scoring sessions, including selecting sample responses to be used to orient scorers, estimating session length, and calculating scoring pool size. * Conduct training/orientation of scorers, monitor and provide performance feedback to scorers. * Understand and consistently apply relevant project standards and other client requirements. * Review scorer performance statistics during and after each scoring session. * Maintain test security and project confidentiality. * Meet all deadlines for completion of scoring sessions. * Facilitate group meetings to assist with test development activities. * Collaborate with other Chief Readers and Scoring Facilitators. Qualifications:
* An advanced degree is required. (Ph.D. preferred). * Expertise in elementary education, specifically reading instruction. * Recent teacher education or teaching experience (elementary, secondary and/or college). * Strong skills in writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and organization. * Attention to detail and accuracy. * Demonstrated ability to lead small and large group discussions to achieve focused goals. * Some travel may be required.
