Sr. Product Manager II (Sports Media/Graphics/Web/IT)

The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the software development lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, working closely with development, business, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager ensures that assigned product(s) plans and strategies support our overall corporate strategy and goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with General Manager and other Product Managers to develop and maintain Product Strategies that are aligned with Market and Corporate Strategies
  • Define, drive, and maintain the product strategy and product roadmap for a product line throughout its lifecycle
  • Develop business cases to explore potential opportunities, including market sizing, financial analysis, market segmentation, and pricing.
  • With Product Development, explore buy, build, & partner opportunities as part of business case analysis.
  • Provide financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
  • Evaluate existing product(s) and manage appropriate actions to improve product and product line efficiencies
  • Research customers' business practices and needs relative to new features and modules
  • From customer input, surveys, imaginative interpretation of user needs, market needs analysis, and known technological solutions, propose potential new products and solutions
  • Project coordination, market research and needs analysis
  • Creation of requirements (MRD and PRD level) documentation and lead project planning to ensure time windows and requirements are being met
  • Work with development teams to ensure a) they understand product requirements and b) active Product Management participation in reviews to provide any needed guidance and clarification in timely manner
  • Coordinate marketing planning of new products and enhancements to current product(s)
  • Develop materials necessary to support Sales & Marketing teams to ensure product value propositions and positioning are in line with overall product and corporate strategies, and help sell product against competitors
  • Review and approve marketing collateral, renewal messages, etc. to ensure appropriate product positioning and communication of values to the market and clients
  • Participate in key sales situations and maintain a close relationship with sales team(s)
  • Expertly demonstrate product(s) internally and to customers as needed
  • Drive launch planning activities to ensure new product and maintenance/enhancement releases are launched successfully
  • Communication with all our departments to ensure company-wide launch readiness
  • Prepare release objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market.
  • Monitor profit and loss position of products with comparison to business plans and corporate projections, performing analysis of deviations and generating recovery plans as required in conjunction with General Manager and other management
  • Review relevant sources of information, including analysts and industry thought leaders.
  • Keep in close contact with key customers and prospective key customers on the leading edge of the industry.
  • Monitor competitor activities to determine possible future directions.
  • Monitor the marketplace for partnership and other relationships that could result in new opportunities.
  • Change management and implementation
  • Manage the product team members working on the product line
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned

    Requirements (Education & Experience):

  • Bachelors in Business, Computer Science, or comparable training/work experience
  • 5+ years Product Management experience, including defining and successfully launching software solutions
  • Experience defining and delivering internet enabled applications (not websites)
  • Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle
  • Strong leader, with open mind and willing to learn new skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Must be capable of producing and presenting executive level presentations
  • Ability to communicate with different personality types and roles (e.g., development, sales, support, customer) effectively and build strong relationships
  • Strong computer and internet skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time
  • A love for products and software

  • Solid understanding of business
  • Examples and 2-3 samples of effective documents delivered in the past

    Desired Experience & Qualities:

  • Knowledge or experience working with financial systems and/or CRM systems
  • Pragmatic Marketing Certification

  • Experience working in Agile or Kanban model
  • Industry/Product knowledge
  • Experience working on distributed projects
  • Experience in Process Improvement
