Category: Environmental Health and Safety - Safety Engineering More information about this job: Overview: Performs EH&S assignments requiring wide application of Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Industrial Hygiene principles, theories and concepts in a propellant and explosives manufacturing environment. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each): 10% - Identifies, evaluates and recommends corrective actions associated with accidents/incidents or unusual hazards requiring special safety considerations.
20% - Conducts inspections of assigned areas to monitor compliance with EH&S regulations, Company policies and contract safety clauses (DOD 4145.26M).
40% - Incorporates EH&S requirements into manufacturing operations/procedures/planning, including periodic industrial hygiene exposure monitoring, to eliminate hazards and reduce accident/injury/illness potential.
5% - Keeps current within area of specialty in support of project assignments.
5% - May review new regulations and provide guidance to operations management regarding potential impact on Aerojet activities.
10% - Performs literature searches and technical document reviews (including design and tooling reviews).
10% - Establishes EH&S training requirements for employees in assigned areas and trains employees.
Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field (Safety Engineering preferred) plus 5 years of directly related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving energetic materials, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
