Investment Officer II
The California Public Employees Retirement System is recruiting to fill 1 Investment Officer II position in the Investment Office, Operations, Performance, & Technology Division.
Under the direction of the Portfolio Manager (PM), Operations, Performance and Technology Division (OPT), the Investment Officer II would be responsible for providing business analysis and support for complex investment systems and processes. This position will utilize their knowledge of investment strategies and investment systems to provide analysis, design and support for all product areas, including Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Real Estate, Alternative Investments, and Commodities. While working independently and as a team member they will analyze and support investment tools, data, integration and reporting options to influence the success of the Investment Offices overall strategy.
Specific duties would include but not limited to: 1. Perform business analysis, configuration, and support for custom developed in house applications.
2. Perform business analysis, configuration, and support for cloud computing or SaaS solutions such as .
3. Support business users through solving complex investment technology issues related to current processes or by implementing new technology solutions.
4. Coordinate with business program staff and technical resources to help define technology enhancements and evaluate solution alternatives.
5. Perform investment data analysis, develop reports, and identify data management and reporting improvement opportunities to enhance investment performance.
6. Develop complex reports, macros, extracts and scripts to support specific investment strategies and systems.
7. Documentation of "As is" and "To be" models for technology processes in the Investment Office.
Requirements:
Individual should have a positive attitude, possess strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A highly detailed-oriented approach to assessing technical business requirements, documenting open issues, and coordinating resolutions with users. Accuracy and thoroughness are absolutely essential. Individual should have exceptional skills with Excel, MS Access, visual basic knowledge and experience supporting investment systems and investment business processes. Bachelors degree is required and a Masters degree is preferred with course work in Finance, Accounting, statistics, and econometrics. Possession of a CFA or MBA is desirable.
Experience in any of the following areas is desired; * Definition of technical requirements * Familiarity with System Development Life Cycle * Data mapping and conversion * Data warehousing/enterprise data design and management * Straight through processing automation * Application integration projects * Experience with investment data and market data integration * Experience with applications such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Charles River, Blackrock Aladdin, and Factset, or others used in investments * Experience with business intelligence tools such as Cognos, SAS * Familiarity of the use of Middleware applications such as Tibco, IBM MQseries, Oracle Fusion , Sun JavaCaps in the processing of investment data * Experience with integrating ASP or SaaS products * Familiarity with IT project management practices * Experience with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services * Experience with MRI Reporting & Query Toolkit (specialized Real Estate Application)
